How to setup a Bluetooth ActiveSync connection

1. On the pc you will need to ensure that the Serial protocol is set. The following assumes you are using a Widcomm driver on the pc.

a. start the Bluetooth Setup Wizard.
b. check I want to configure the Bluetooth services.
c. check that the Bluetooth Serial Port is enabled.
d. Highlight the Serial Port and tap configure.
e. Set the COM port to a port that is not a real com port on your pc.
f. Uncheck Secure connection if you wish.
g. Tap Finish

2. On the WayPoint 200

a. Start the Bluetooth manager.
b. tap the hand icon (ACT > Devices Nearby)
c. the refresh icon if necessary and find the pc.
d. Double tap the icon to show the services.
e. The left one is the serial service Ð tap it
f. After the connection Ð set it to the default. (tap and hold menu).
g. tap the active sync icon.

3. Ensure that a serial connection is established on the pc end. You may need to set up a partnership and exchange passwords depending on the security settings.

4. On the Active Sync program itself

a. run active sync
b. bring up File > Get Connected
c. It should find your device. If not try again and check your connection settings. You might need to cancel and restart it to make the connection take.

Once the items are configured you should be able to make the connection with much less work next time. Just enable Bluetooth on the WayPoint 200 and tap the active sync shortcut.
