WayPoint 100/200 Upgrade

Mobile Crossing is pleased to announce a major upgrade to the navigation software on your WayPoint PDA. This is a free upgrade for all WayPoint users. This software matches the functionality of the Mapopolis 4.6 release except for the custom modifications that are unique to the WayPoint. These changes include both additional functionality and bug fixes. A few of these changes are listed below:

1. Making a Bluetooth connection to the GPS will now launch WayPoint.
2. You can now set up Proximity alarms for POI's in a given category of your own choosing.
3. You can now optionally use the Text to Speech capability to announce street names while navigating.
4. You can now use other voices for navigation (requires a separate download)
5. You can now have other languages (Please email support@mobilecrossing.com to request the language you are interested in. We expect to have Spanish and French available.)
6. The map chooser has been enhanced to permit selection of specific maps from multiple directories instead of the old one directory or all directory approach. This allows you to manage your maps better.
7. The number of maps you can have open at once has been increased, but for performance reasons it is still better to only have the maps open that you actually need.
8. Log file can now be up to 256K.
9. You can now customize the navigation banner display by selecting a larger or smaller amount of information. This can be done on the fly by just pressing the D-pad.
10. You now have more control over what screen is to be displayed after a route calculation is completed.
11. You now have more control over the text sizes available on the map data.
12. You can now have the backlight off and have it turn on automatically to alert you to an upcoming turn.
13. Recalling a saved route now checks that the correct maps are loaded.
14. Several messages were improved to make them clearer.
15. All Major roads can now be selected independently from detailed maps.
16. Navigation turn pane is more readable.
17. Many bug fixes making the software more robust.

To install this new release you must change the ROM on your device. For complete instructions View Here. You will need a compact flash card of at least 32 Meg to perform this upgrade. Mobile Crossing will make a limited number of these cards with the ROM upgrade preloaded available to loan to users. This is a free service but we will need a deposit of $25 to ensure the return of the card. You can mail us a check and request the card or call with a credit card to 408-738-8816 x105.
